Nutrition Book Hunt
This game can be done at several levels. This first level is simple completion of the sheet according to the directions below. A slightly higher level is to construct balanced meals using only the ingredients in the books. Still higher would be to research the nutritional value of each item. Directions: Find a picture book or novel (not a non-fictional book) in which each of these foods is listed in the title or is a main focus of the book. List the author and the title in the blanks provided. ________________________________________________________________________ | | | FRUIT | |________________________________________________________________________| | | | | | FOOD | TITLE OF BOOK | AUTHOR | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 1.Blueberries | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 2.Cherries | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 3.Bananas | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 4.Apples | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 5.Strawberries | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| ________________________________________________________________________ | | | VEGETABLES | |________________________________________________________________________| | | | | | FOOD | TITLE OF BOOK | AUTHOR | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 1.Peas | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 2.Corn | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 3.Celery | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 4.Tomatoes | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 5.Potatoes | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| ________________________________________________________________________ | | | GRAINS | |________________________________________________________________________| | | | | | FOOD | TITLE OF BOOK | AUTHOR | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 1.Rice | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 2.Wheat | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 3.Oats | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 4.Bread | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 5.Rye | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 6.Pasta | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 7.Macaroni | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 8.Noodles | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 9.Spaghetti | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| ________________________________________________________________________ | | | DAIRY | |________________________________________________________________________| | | | | | FOOD | TITLE OF BOOK | AUTHOR | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 1.Milk | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 2.Butter | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 3.Cheese | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 4.Yogurt | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| ________________________________________________________________________ | | | MEAT, BEANS, EGGS, NUTS | |________________________________________________________________________| | | | | | FOOD | TITLE OF BOOK | AUTHOR | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 1.Chicken | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 2.Eggs | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 3.Pork | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 4.Beef | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 5.Fish | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 6.Beans | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| | | | | | 7.Lentils | | | |________________|_______________________________|_______________________| OUR ANSWERS: Fruits VEGETABLES
