Review
The people of this area of northern Scotland know about a mermaid who inhabits the Drongs, great pinnacles of rock that rise out of the sea not far from shore. Realizing that she must be propitiated, they always speak well of her. Eric, however, has refused to do so and slanders her. Soon afterward, his boat smashes on the rocks and he has to leave his family to find work. He sends back beautiful green silk cloth, an ornate jade comb, a conch shell and a knife. When he fails to retnger Came Ashore which involves the magic seal creatures, the selkies.
